Have a Wonderful Holiday Break!

The students in Room 508 have worked extremely hard so far this year and I am particularly pleased with the progress shown in each child. Progress reports were sent home today, which includes skills for your child to work on during our break.

In your child’s Google Classroom, are their latest assessment results. Detailed information about some of these assessments was sent home with your child’s progress report. Please remember, it is important to look at these assessments and focus on standards where your child may be having difficulty, instead of an overall score. Also, a 2 on your child’s progress report does not mean that your child is performing poorly. It may mean that your child has not yet mastered a particular standard(s) or that we have only covered a portion of the standards in that section. We will continue to teach, review, and practice those concepts when we return from break.

There will be no daily homework during our break. Instead, I would like you and your child to review the items in their Leadership Binder, Google Classroom, and OneNote Notebook. Then, ask your child to complete the portfolio reflection form in Google Classroom. This is due on Tuesday, January 14th. Click here (Helpful Websites) for some websites that can help your child with difficult concepts. Don’t forget to check our classroom blog regularly for updates to websites. COMMUNITY CONNECT DONATION DRIVE

Our community will work with other schools in our cohort to collect donations for Community Connect Bags.  Our student leaders will collect donations from our students and families and then work with our cohort to create community connect bags for those in need.  We will be collecting travel size shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, and toothbrushes for the bags.  We will collect these items during the month of October.  If you are willing to donate a few items, we would greatly appreciate it!  Please get your children involved so they feel what a joy it is to serve others.  All donations may be submitted to our student leaders or the main office by November 1st.

Have a Wonderful Fall Break!

The students in Room 508 worked extremely hard this quarter and have already demonstrated so much growth in math and language arts. They have also shown a positive growth mindset throughout the quarter.  Thank you for attending our student-led parent/teacher conferences.  It was so nice to share your child’s strengths and discussing how we can help your child be successful this year.

There will be no written homework during our break, however please continue to work on the skills and concepts that were discussed during our conference by reading for at least 20 minutes each night, completing 2 Achieve3000 articles each week, and working through math lessons on Zearn.org.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me via e-mail at april.chapman@cvesd.org.

Don’t Forget…School Resumes Tuesday, October 8th (dismissal at 3:15pm)!

Have a wonderful fall break!
