  1. Hi Vincent!
Think about how you would write statements to show your rounding (Ex. 45,672 ~ 50,000). That would be the algorithm for this type of problem.
    -Mrs. Chapman πŸ™‚

    • Hi Evan!
Lesson 3 Problem Set was what we worked on yesterday during our math block when you were absent. Tonight, use problem #1 from Lesson 31 Problem Set to do on the back of your Exit Ticket. πŸ™‚

  2. Hello Mrs. Chapman! I have a question about my math homework today. It says each group has 6 students. One chaperone on each team. Does this mean 5 students and one chaperone or 6 students and one chaperone let me know!
    Thank you!

  3. Hi Mrs. Chapman I forgot my homework today since Luca gave me my backpack today. I forgot all about the homework before I left. Can you please give me one? I forgot it in my cubby! I don’t mind staying in at recess!
    Thank you!

  4. Hello Mrs. Chapman, I quite don’t get the word problem today. It says β€œSamantha buys a memory card with twice as much storage as Jesus’s” Does this mean Samantha has one GB or 4?

  5. Hello Ms. Chapman I am confused on what variable means in Lesson 19 Exit Ticket. I have used Wordsmith and it hasn’t helped me. May you please help me so I know what variable means in the math question?

  6. The homework says,” Of the team members who ran 1 6/8 miles, how many did those team members run combined?” I am confused because only one member ran 1 6/8 miles, and there is an incorrect point. They are asking how many miles they ran total, are they asking for both of the points or only the one that is correct?

  7. Hi! I wonder if the second problem wants us to label the numbers 0, 1, and 2 on the number line. I am having trouble. But I know that one of the numbers, 7/6, is greater than one whole. πŸ™‚

  8. For the video, they have an even amount of groups grouped together, but when I tried it with the math homework and grouped four together, I had two left. I am confused Mrs. Chapman.😐

  9. Hi Mrs. Chapman! For the ideas for the speech, may we just write down our ideas on what should matter most? πŸ™‚

  10. Hello, Mrs. Chapman. I am struggling on this one question that says to describe my 2 strengths in Math, the problem is… I can’t find Module 3 Assessment. I tried finding it in Google Classroom and other websites but I can’t find it. Please tell me where to find it so I can finish this question.

        • It’s a bit difficult to explain in writing, but I will try. You are going to write a multiplication sentence where you multiply a unit fraction times a number and it will equal that fraction. Try watching the lesson video that is on the Homework page of our blog. It will help you!! We can review in the morning. 😊

  11. Mrs. Chapman, for the little progress report and portfolio reflection on the second part it says, β€œLook at Benchmark Student Report and Benchmark Booklets.” What does it mean by that?

  12. Mrs. Chapman, since I didn’t write the first part of the graphic organizer for the first step, what was I supposed to write about? And also for the second part, what do I write about to the Archbishop?

    • The first part is an introduction and greeting to the archbishop. The second part is about why a 22nd mission needs to be built.

  13. Dear Mrs. Chapman,
how do we do multiplication and addition for a division problem again?πŸ™‚

    Your student,
    Victoria Z.

  14. Dear Mrs.Chapman,
I was going to do my homework and I didn’t have it in my mailbox, or I might have not picked it up. However, it isn’t in my homework folder and I really did take every paper out of my mailbox. Can I take it tomorrow and do it for homework with the Module 3 lesson 4? It wouldn’t be a good thing that I forgot my homework. Also, can I do it at school?
    From your student, Victoria Z.

    • Hi Victoria!
Yes, you may complete tonight’s homework either at school or tomorrow night. If you are missing something in your mailbox, let me know before you leave so that I can give you an extra copy. See you tomorrow.
      Sincerely,
      Mrs. Chapman 😊

  15. Hi Mrs. Chapman,
What is the school code for DresmBox? I’ve got the app but what is the school code? I have tried Ca3739, but it didn’t work. Please PM (private message) me please if you can/want to.
    Always return, ASAP

    – Kate

  16. Mrs Chapman I am have a frustrating time right now because I forgot my homework, is there any way that I could print my homework?????:0:(

    • Hi Gabe!
I’m very sorry that you are feeling frustrated. Unfortunately, I’m not able to e-mail you the homework to print at home. You may stop by the classroom in the morning and work on it. If I’m not there I will be in the MPR for Give Thanks to Reading. See you in the morning.
      -Mrs. Chapman πŸ™‚

  17. Hi Mrs. Chapman I got my things from my mailbox earlier today but when I came home I didn’t have my homework in my folder. Could you put the exit ticket in my One Note? Thanks. -Jasmine

    • Hi Jasmine!
I’m not able to put the exit ticket in your OneNote this evening. You may come in before school and complete it then. See you tomorrow.
      -Mrs. Chapman πŸ™‚

  18. Hi Mrs. Chapman. Somehow I forget to bring my EMOTION project back home, if I arrive in the morning early can I do it? Sorry, I didn’t want to be late for tennis class starting at 3:30. Thanks! Maybe I shouldn’t be so careless next time…

    • Yes, you may work on it in the morning. You can work on the writing part from home and then complete the art portion in the morning.
      πŸ™‚

  19. Hey Mrs. Chapman! I was wondering if you can fit a schedule tomorrow for a review of the word problem you gave us today. Not to mention that I didn’t understand my homework. Respond ASAP please, thanks!

    • Hi Gabriel! You may stop by the classroom in the morning to pick it up. You can work on it before school on the picnic tables. πŸ™‚

  20. Hi Mrs. Chapman. I was wondering if you can send me a copy of the 5th grade math homework online because I left it at school. I can copy down the answers and bring it in tomorrow.

    • Hi Jasmine!
The file is quite large and I won’t be able to attach it via e-mail. I can screenclip the page and put it in your OneNote. Will that work?
      -Mrs. Chapman πŸ™‚

  21. Hi Mrs. Chapman! I forgot to bring my Word problem home. I will work on HW menu math and I’ll come into the classroom tomorrow to do the word problem if that’s okay.

    -Jasmine

  22. Mrs.Chapman I have forgotten my homework at school and I was wondering if I can do my math homework at recess tomorrow or in the morning.

  23. Mrs. Chapman, on the exit ticket on number one what does it mean by “describe how many degrees his body will turn to be upright”?

  24. Mrs. Chapman on the back of tonight’s math problem, there is not a word problem and lesson 11’s exit ticket. Would I work on that?

  25. Mrs. Chapman I am so close to finishing my scenes for my gold rush narrative. May I complete it for my homework menus reading?

  26. Mrs.Chapman I think that you put the wrong page number on Chapter 17 in By the Great Horn Spoon. Can you tell me the correct page number? Thank you -Joshua

    • Hi Joshua!
It could very well be the incorrect page number because we had two different versions of the book in class. However, it should be close to that page number. Unfortunately, I don’t have the book at home with me. My suggestion would be to quickly scan the pages of Chapter 17 and see if you can find the quote. That should help you answer the question. Let me know if you have any other questions.
      Sincerely,
      Mrs. Chapman πŸ™‚

  27. Hi Mrs. Chapman! I seem to be having technical difficulties. I tried to go to one note on my iPad and it didn’t have my newer progress. I tried sinking it but it did no use. Then I switched to my laptop but it won’t let me log in. What should I do? Thanks!

    -Carolyn

    • Hi Stephen!
There are some activities on the back side that do not involve online games. You can also do a MobyMax grammar activity. Please choose one of those to do. Also, please let me know which games no longer work, so that I can remove them from the homework menu.
      -Mrs. Chapman πŸ™‚

  28. Mrs. Chapman in my folder and in my mailbox my math homework was not there I think the mail careyer did not put it in May I going in the morning and finish it.

    • Yes, of course! Remember to check and make sure you have all of the things you need before you leave for the day. 😊

  29. hello mrs.chapman! I just got back from GATE and I forgot my homework. Is there any chance that I could pick it up tomorrow and work on it?

    • Hi Stephen!
Remember when we discussed the difference between the literal meaning of words and the figurative meaning of words? Our example in class was “My stomach growled!” My stomach wasn’t literally growling. Those words have a different meaning. That’s figurative language.

  30. Mrs. Chapman I just wanted to let you know that I will work on typing pal and I also twisted my toe if you see me walking strangely.

    • I’m so sorry to hear about your toe, Stephen! Thank you for letting me know about Typing Pal. Don’t forget that you can take our day off to catch up on your narrative story or your Island of the Blue Dolphins learning log. πŸ™‚

  31. Mrs. Chapman I will not be able to use and the photos because office doesn’t work on my iPad and I cannot go to my blog on my computer.

  32. One good series that i recommend are Percy Jackson books.
the one that I’m talking about is the sea of monsters the second book. The story is a about boy named Percy who is the son of the god of the sea. Also he goes on an adventure to find the golden fleas. Thats basically the hole story in three sentences.
    – Jaren Kei Cachola

    • Hi Stephen!
Today, you learned that you could group factors together in different ways. For example,
54 = (2 X 3) X 9 could also be written 54 = 2 X (3 X 9). Grouping the factors in different ways is using the Associative Property. First the 3 “associates” with the 2, then the 3 “associates” the 9. Remember, you can click on the lesson on the Homework page of the blog to review. If you are still having trouble, we can work on it in the morning.
      -Mrs. Chapman πŸ™‚

  33. I recommend the book called The Lost Hero. It is part of the series called heroes of Olympus. The book, as well as many other amazing series is by Rick Riordan. First of all I think it is great because it has Greek mythology. It’s amazing how the author puts myths into how the characters fight foes. It can also make you laugh at certain parts. For example, a character might make a funny reference on a monsters powers to our every day life. Another thing particularly in this book is mystery. The main character in this book hasn’t been in any other books that the author made. So when a different character sees him and tells him that he’s done something you can’t remember any better than he can. You’ve heard my recommendation and now I recommend one more thing. Read the book!

  34. Hi mrs chapman! Um, what are the four words that we chose to write down for sign because I forgot to write them down. Thanks!

  35. Hi Mrs.Chapman! I was wondering if I could use some of the root words, as well as the words with the root in it, for word study tonight. Thanks!
    -Carolyn

  36. Hey Mrs.Chapman! I’m so sorry, but I forgot the math paper at school, and the link is a bit confusing! Is there any time I can pick it up? Thanks!
    -Carolyn

    • Hi Carolyn!

      -Mrs. Chapman πŸ™‚

  37. Hi Mrs.Chapman so for our ecosystems project do we pick an ecosystem we want to learn about then start doing research?

    • Hi Jasmine!
Yes! Think about the ecosystems we went over in class. Choose one that interests you and that you would like to learn more about. Find some books or articles about that ecosystem and use your note cards to take notes on the research you find. Have fun!
      Mrs. Chapman

  38. Hi Mrs.Chapman I forgot my homework at school but I want to know what time you are going to be in our classroom in the morning because I want to do it before school starts.

  39. HI Mrs.Chapman I need a answer to this please so I have a chrome book(computer)that I got for my birth day last year and when I go to office 365 it won,t let me log in what do I do?

    • Hi Amanda!
I’m really sorry that you are having trouble logging on to Office 365. I just tried logging in from home using Google Chrome and it wouldn’t let me in either. Hmmmm…I’m not sure what the problem is, but we can check with Mrs. Mazeau in the morning. She knows a lot about this kind of thing and she may be able to help us.
      -Mrs. Chapman πŸ™‚

    • I’d like to know about the websites you’re visiting to work on grammar. I’d rather have one detailed paragraph about one website than a list of all of the websites you visited. Think about what you think would be best and then start writing. πŸ™‚

  40. Hello Mrs.Chapman I may have forgotten which column of the homework menu we have to do tonight because I forgot to write it down in my planner.

  41. Het Mrs. Chapman I forgot to bring the math homework home, but will you be in the classroom before school becase I want to do it before school starts.
    -Stephen

    • Hi Stephen!
Remember, I won’t be at school in the morning because I have a meeting. You may ask our substitute in the morning if you can come in and complete it. Otherwise, you can finish it at recess. πŸ™‚

  42. Hey Mrs. Chapman I forgot to bring the math homework home, but I will do it in the morning before school starts.
    -Stephen

    • Hi Stephen!
Text features are parts of nonfiction text like headings, photographs, captions, maps, etc. They help us understand the text more. πŸ™‚

  43. I recommend the book The Strange Case of Origami Yoda. It is a very funny book full of doodles to illustrate the humor. It is about these kids in what is probably the weirdest middle school in the world. They take advice from a origami puppet who has arguments with his creator, the weirdest person in the school. In the end you are going to want to be a character, so there are instructions to make the main origami puppet at the end. That puppet will make you feel like a character in the book I hope you now like.

    • Hi Stephen!
No word study words yet. Just choose 10 interesting or challenging words from your nightly reading. πŸ™‚

  44. Good evening teacher
